Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) are an important part of the economy of Kyrgyzstan and the region.Yet they are also the most vulnerable to cyberattacks: limited budgets and the lack of dedicated specialists make them easy targets. In the context of digital transformation, large companies and government institutions can play a key role by supporting their supply chain partners.
What can be done?
- Set clear requirements. Use simple checklists and transparent expectations instead of complex standards.
- Share tools. Ready-to-use policy templates, accessible programs, and resources can help lower barriers.
- Focus on basic practices. Strong passwords, MFA, regular updates, backups, and phishing protection.
- Integrate security into business processes. Include requirements in contracts and SLAs to ensure transparency.
- Leverage influence. Organize webinars, awareness campaigns, and joint initiatives for partners.
Why is this important?
Cyber threats know no borders: an attack on a small organization can become a threat to the entire ecosystem. By strengthening the security posture of our partners, we protect not only them, but also ourselves.
The Digital Resilience Association calls on businesses, government, and the IT community to join forces in order to collectively strengthen the cyber resilience of all market participants.
